CBI members have re-elected Paul Drechsler as the President of the UK’s largest business organisation at its Annual General Meeting in London.
Paul Drechsler CBE, CBI President, said:
“It is a great honour to be re-elected as CBI President at this crucial time for our country and economy.
“Representing an organisation where its people are so passionate about the economic success of the UK, creating the best possibilities for the next generation and making a success of Brexit is a real privilege.
“We believe business is a true force for good in society and I am proud of the role the CBI plays telling its positive story and shaping an evidence-based public debate.
“I very much look forward to continuing in the role and to working with all my dedicated colleagues and our members to make sure the voice of business continues to be clearly heard and respected for its views.”
Carolyn Fairbairn, CBI Director-General, said:
“It has been a great pleasure working with Paul over the last two years and I am delighted that he is continuing for another term as CBI President in these important times.
“As an influential, experienced and respected voice on behalf of business, he has been extraordinarily attentive to the needs of CBI members and a brilliant ambassador. Over the past two years, he has built up experience, relationships and knowledge that are of great value to us and, crucially, to our members.
“His energy and enthusiasm for the role business can play in society, as well as our economy, is unparalleled and he has been a real source of support to me and the team. I can think of no-one better to champion the need of firms of all sizes and sectors across the UK and congratulate him on his re-election.”
