During a speech at the Business Meeting organized by CEOE on the G20-B20 Argentina, the vice president of CEOE and president of CEPYME, Antonio Garamendi, stated that Spanish businessmen reject the isolationist and protectionist tendencies that have appeared in recent years and continue to support the World Trade Organization, WTO, as the main authority to regulate trade.

Garamendi stressed that issues related to guarantees that allow the private sector free and real development of competition should be analyzed at the next G20/ B20 Summit in Argentina – those that defend multilateralism in the field of climate change, and those that drive digitization and training, among others.

The meeting was also attended by Eduardo Michel, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Argentina in Spain, who emphasized the question of the future of work, infrastructure for development with its corresponding funding, sustainable food future and inherited issues of past summits such as those related to gender and care for the environment, among others.

Fernando Landa, Policy Sherpa of the B20, explained the structure and working method of the B20, highlighting how the meeting held in Australia in 2014 to Argentina 2018, which will have more than 1,000 business representatives, has gained recognition. All this, he stated, serves to give even greater legitimacy to the debates and provides continuity and depth. Before the Summit of December 2018, more than 20 events related to it will be organized throughout the year.
